Irwin J. Seward, 92, of Ulm died Friday, April 23, 2010.
Mr. Seward was born December 9, 1917, in Manteo, Virginia, to John Mackley and Mary Mayo Yoder Seward. Following graduation from high school, he attended college at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a 32nd degree Mason for more than 50 years and a member of Euclid Lodge No. 130 for more than 50 years. He was a farmer and member of Roe United Methodist Church.
Mr. Seward was well known for his civic work and genealogy research. He compiled a history of Ulm including a video on the history of Zion Lutheran Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katharyn Zimmerman Seward; and a sister, Celesta Schaal.
Survivors are three sons, Irwin John Seward Jr. of Jones Creek, Texas, James Earl Seward of Houston, Texas, and Donald Lyle Seward of Gonzales, Louisiana; one daughter, Georgia Seward of Little Rock; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Roe United Methodist Church with burial in Ulm Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Turpin Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Roe United Methodist Church or Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie.
